As a recipient of the Best Actor Award at the 24th Fantasia International Film Festival, actor Cho Jinwoong will appear at the 18th Florence Korea Film Fest on the 23rd of September.
From August 20th to September 2nd at the Fantasia International Film Festival held in Montreal, Canada, Cho Jinwoong received an Award for the Special Mention in the Cheval Noir Competition for his portrayal in the movie, Me and Me (Dir. Jung Jin-young •Production- BA entertainment, Danee film •Distributor - Ace Maker Movie Works). As the director of Me and Me, Jung Jin-young, also received an Award for Special Mention in the First Feature Film, Cho Jinwoong received both awards for this film.
The judges at the Fantasia International Film Festival stated that ““The sophisticated and truly heart-wrenching work of one performer deserves a Special Mention: for his gripping ode to a man experiencing everything from the unnerving absurdity to existential agony of an uninvited “New Normal” with stunning grace and undeniable emotional honesty, Cho Jinwoong lifts the bar of the classic noir detective to a whole new level in his portrayal of Me and Me’s Hyeong-goo. Previously, Me and Me was invited at the Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival and further enhanced of status of Korean film industry.
Through SARAM Entertainment, Cho Jinwoong stated, “the movie Me and Me is a very film like film in that even while he was filming, there were times when he was confused as to what was real and what was not.” He stated that he hopes “this movie helps the viewers learn about how we are so sure about ourselves, how we are so lenient but also critical of ourselves.” In ending, he stated that “the Korean film industry is at the world class level” and that he will “do his best so as to not disappoint other actors and their efforts.”

For the upcoming 18th Florence Korea Film Fest to be held on September 23rd, cho appears on the screen as a main actor. The festival will not only introduce his main six films but also showcase ‘Black Money’(co-starred with Lee Hanee), as its opening piece. The executive chairman, Riccardo Gelli also stated that “The Florence Korean Film Fest has introduced many Korean actors, but I think that Cho Jinwoong is an actor who can represent Korea” and that he planned this film fest so that he can “share Cho Jinwoong’s excellent films with other Italian audience”. This Florence Korea Film Fest has also prepared a special interview video ‘Man of Will’ for the audience. A special space will be provided for the audience to learn more about the actors and their acting.
Cho Jinwoong’s films have been introduced and acclaimed in many film festivals in the past. A Hard Day was invited for the Director’s Fortnight section of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival and the foreign press praised him as a “monster like actor,” and in Believer his unprecedented charismatic acting skills were praised as “very convincing and powerful,” and sold its copyright in all 55 countries. Also, The Handmaiden, directed by Park Chan-wook, was invited at the 69th Cannes Film Festival and he was picked as the actor one most wishes to meet in person.
